I recently borrowed my dad's slides and started scanning some of our old pictures. I have had so much fun reminiscing as memories came back to mind that I hadn't thought about in years. I hope you enjoy them also!

I would love to be there with you as you view these old pictures. I want to hear what memories come to your mind! I LOVE hearing stories about my childhood.

When a smile comes to your face or one of these pictures brings a memory to your mind, please type a few of these thoughts  in the textbox beside each picture and share them with me! Be sure and click Submit at the bottom of the page when you are through.

If you run out of time, just send what you have and come back later and share more memories!

Even though daddy has his eyes closed, I think this is a very sweet family picture.

I am not sure if this is in Artesia or Plainview but it looks like we are all dressed up for church.

Bob and Steve at Highland Elementary, I think, in Plainview.

This is in Plainview. Notice how I thought I was a member of this cubscout troop with my matching blue skirt that mother made for me. I wonder what this guys thought about this little "girl" always attending their meetings and being in their pictures. Mother was the troop leader and they met at our house.

Mother was an excellent seamstress. I still have my girl scout uniform that she made me and several Barbie doll dresses.

Speaking of being an excellent seamstress, notice these "matching" shirts mother made for her special guys. (Wags didn't get one! I remember one of my uncles bringing us a little puppy when we lived at 904 Lexington in Plv. Can somebody tell me if this was Wags and was it James or Bobby Gene?)

Don't you know they felt special with their new bikes!

Bob on the pogo stick. I think they were pretty good.

Britt was very impressed with my dad's photographing these action shots and they are sharp and in focus in mid air.

Don't Shelly and I look tough in Bob and Steve's football pads!

I wonder what I thought was so funny.

My husband thinks this is really a cute little girl.

Me and my mother. (I wonder what she was thinking about!)

Definitely a Daddy's Girl!

My mother had BEAUTIFUL flower gardens in the front and back yard of our house (1604 Quincy) in Plainview.

Take time to smell the roses!

Bob, Steve, Shelly, Tonya and baby kittens at mama and papa's house, I think.

Tonya and Shelly but I have no idea where we are. Can somebody tell me a story behind this picture?

My dad's first ham radio.
dash, dit, dash, dit, dit (I don't know what that says but I sure listened to hours of his sending morse code to different folks)

Cute, Cute, Cute!!!

I definitely remember these peaches and all of the peach trees in our backyard at 1604 Quincy in Plainview, TX.

We all enjoyed these peaches.

Dad was very proud these and was just sick when we lost the trees to bores.

Steve and his baseball trophies.

One of my ballet pictures.

Look at these fine upstanding young Boy Scouts. (Steve can be as tall as Bob when he stands on the front porch and Bob stands on the ground)

Looks like we were all ready to head out on vacation. Remember the red van????

Now this is what I would call "roughing it". This was 1958-Possum Kingdom

(I used a software program to make these smaller thumbnails so that is why they are smaller than the ones I did by hand. As soon as I get the original pictures uploaded, you can click on the thumbnail to view a larger picture.)

My husband never shaves when he is on a camping vacation!

Barefoot on the scooter? Notice the capris. Isn't it interesting how styles come back around.

What a character! Did you know my daddy was a ham when he is on skis?
No Hands                                Slalom                      The rest of the story!

Look at dad go over the ramp!

Mother waving at the camera!

I think Steve was a master of the hula hoop.

These rose bushes are BEAUTIFUL. Somebody tell me where they were.

Kinda dark but a cute picture of a mother working hard to make her daughter look cute!

Now that is a LONG icicle.

Tonya playing with her dolls.

This slide was labeled "mosquito head" We found out that I sometimes have allergic reactions to mosquito bites. I still sometimes swell up with a hard red knot when I get a bite but not always. I am told my eyes nearly swelled shut on this campout.

I thought I was so big when I was "riding on my surfboard". I also remember that MY SURFBOARD ended up as the backstop to a basketball goal at 1604 Quincy.

Those were the days! This is at Umbarger Lake in 1959..

RELAXING at the campsite on Umbarger Lake!!!

Tonya at the SCENIC overlook?

What do you think Bob is fixing to do to Steve?

The title of the slide says this is "Bob reading" but it looks like Steve to me.

I wonder if this is DADDY'S CHAIR? All it took was my dad snapping his fingers once and we hopped up.
What house is this and I wonder what Steve has in his hands?

Thank you Bob for helping me build my sand castle! You are a good big brother.

Bob and Dad in the boat.

Fishing at Bridgeport

The slide said this was at Indian River. Bob is checking it all out..

This is also at Indian River. What do you think happened here? Do you think I ever talked Steve into moving so I could look inside or did I have to go back down first?

Do you know what happened right after this picture was taken? Click on the image to find out.

I'm not exactly sure where Pa Pu Pi is but I bet I had lots of fun on this family vacation. This was 1963.

Ahh the memories of family vacations at Blue Cove Lodge. I loved the lush green park area in the middle of the cabins. I especially remember catching fire flies in a gallon jar! The slide title said this was 1961.

I remember swimming in this lake although I NEVER dove off the sides of the cliff like Bob and Steve did.

Bob and Steve are still riding horses in Reno!

I remember this piece of driftwood being used as a decoration in our house. I wonder what Steve and I are so intently checking out in our jars?

Bob's first time to drive. Can you imagine a 14 yr. old behind the wheel? Glad they changed that before my daughters turned 14 although the year they changed it was shortly before I turned 14. I don't think I liked it then!

This was taken in Las Vegas when we went out to visit Charles Casey and his family. They use to always go to Lake Whitney with us. Our families had lots of fun and made lots of memories!

I am not sure where this stream is that Bob is fishing in but it sure looks inviting to me right now!

Dad has lots of additional slides and someday I will get copies of these also. The next set is a trip to Cloudcroft with James and Shari in 1966.

My next project is to make a webpage of childhood pictures I have of mother and the Measles family

I think this picture of mother was taken in 1964. When Mama Measles moved into an assisted living center last fall, she let me have this picture of my mother.
